AXS-One Expands Email and Instant Messaging Compliance Solution; Additional Features Added to Proven Compliance Portal In Use at Leading Financial Institutions

RUTHERFORD, N.J., Oct 9, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- AXS-One Inc. (AMEX: AXO), a leading provider of e-business content management solutions, today announced enhanced capabilities to its proven compliance products, including advanced email and instant message management and surveillance functionality.

Designed to help companies adhere to compliance and regulatory mandates, the AXS-One(TM) Compliance Portal is a one-source solution for the surveillance, storage, and management of both internal and external corporate communications. By providing a single point of entry to critical business content, the AXS-One Compliance Portal offers unique capabilities that enable an enterprise-wide contextual view of business communications and supporting data, allows for rules-based escalation based on communication content, and ensures that legal and compliance departments are proactive in mitigating corporate risk. The AXS-One solution addresses over 200 content types, including:

    - Email and Attachments
    - Instant Messaging
    - Customer Statements
    - Trade Confirmations
    - Analyst Reports
    - Customer Correspondence

"Enterprises are now recognizing that all forms of communications, including email and instant messaging, are critical components of their day-to-day operations. Potential regulatory, legislative, discovery, or internal project audits may add to the need for an integrated solution, which includes e-mail and instant messaging as part of a content management strategy," said Maurene Caplan Grey, research director, Gartner. "Enterprises are looking for solutions that will allow them the ability to manage data within a broader business framework."

Building upon the compliance management solutions that AXS-One has provided to global organizations for over a decade, the new features within the Compliance Portal solution include lexical surveillance, workflow managed escalation and remedy of message content, full lifecycle and operational management of messages and related attachments, and linguistic-based full text search, among others. Providing enterprise scalability and multi-platform support, the AXS-One solution is designed to address requirements outlined in SEC Rule 17a-4, as well as HIPAA, FDA, Electronic Commerce, and Patriot Act regulations related to retention and disposal of specific internal and external business communications and content.

"By including sophisticated surveillance, retrieval, and remedial process components within our compliance solution we are able to deliver a complete communication management solution, enabling regulated companies to continue using their preferred methods of communicating, while making it easy for them to meet compliance demands and reduce liabilities arising from improper or misleading communications" explained John Rade, Chief Executive Officer of AXS-One. "Email and instant messaging are very efficient ways for any business to communicate both internally and with partners and customers but with their explosive growth comes risk. Corporate compliance is about more than just email and instant messaging archival; it's about risk and process management. With these products, we are uniquely qualified to serve this growing new market and positioned to do well as it develops."
